The Presidential Innovation Fellows (PIF) program was established by the White House in 2012 to attract top innovators into government, capable of tackling issues at the convergence of technology, policy, and process. Since its inception, IFE has partnered with the program’s co-founders, John Paul Farmer and Todd Park, and current leadership to provide PIFs with unique opportunities and invitations during their tour of duty in the Capital city. It is without question that the new PIFs will provide a diverse and refreshing perspective as they tackle some of the most pressing issues of today. IFE welcomes the incoming Presidential Innovation Fellow Class of 2020 and we look forward to watching the progress the PIFs make over the next year!
“Our government is only who shows up. That’s all it is...[PIFs] this is one of the hardest things you will ever do, but it will also be one of the most rewarding.”
“The Presidential Innovation Fellows program leverages the ingenuity of leading problem solvers from across America together with federal innovators to tackle projects that aim to fuel job creation, save taxpayers money and improve the lives of Americans in tangible ways, These private sector innovators bring their entrepreneurial expertise to the table that has helped jump-start high-tech companies, increase efficiency and public engagement, and redefine how technology is used in business."
"As the creator and driver of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program, John was able to infuse innovation into OPM’s talent recruitment practices and in the process successfully brought in some of the best and brightest minds that America has to offer. This resulted in the infusion of cutting-edge innovation across all aspects of government.”
"The PIF program isn’t about the White House creating directives for fellows to work on — agencies are submitting the issues they’re having and the changes they want, and people are specifically applying to work on those issues. The PIF program proves government can get work done in months — not years."
"Within government agencies, Fellows often view themselves as 'entrepreneurs-in-residence.' Like an entrepreneur working at a venture fund or startup, Fellows work to embody the spirit of an innovator: tireless, always learning, and building a vision. Working collaboratively, we help shape, define, and lead initiatives that serve the interests of the American people."
